Tutorials: Cinema 4d

Spikey Ball

Beginner

Create your very own spikey ball with nothing more than a little Cinema 4D magic.

Start by creating a new Platonic. Change it to a C60 Buckball. While it is still selected, Press 'C' on your keyboard to make it editable.

Now that it's editable, we can use transformers and surface modifiers to fix this baby up. In this case, we will be using the matrix extrude. Go to Structure - Edit Surface - Matrix Extrude. Use the settings as specified in the screenshot (click on the thumbnail to the left). It should look something like that when you are finished.

Now create 2 Hyper NURBS objects by going Object - Nurbs - Hyper Nurbs, and then drag the platonic into the first one. Next drag the first Hyper Nurbs into the second one. When finished, the object hierarchy should look like the image to the left. You should now have the base object! All you need to do is add objects and lighting, and voila! You've got yourself a lovely spikey ball!
